First Anniversary

What’s more romantic than a cabin in the woods? A beautiful luxury cabin with a hot tub, floor to ceiling windows and SUSHI!!! If you’re in need of some one on one time with that special someone, look no further than a 3 hour drive from Dallas at Vail’s Bluff in Broken Bow, Oklahoma.

We booked through Airbnb for 2 nights for about $900 but it was worth EVERY penny! It’s surrounded by trees so it’s private enough to enjoy a skinny dip in the hot tub. They have everything you could need but we recommend bringing your own shampoo, body wash and conditioner because those small hotel bottles don’t cut it.

Sushi Dinner

Our love language is sushi so it made perfect sense to make some homemade sushi. We made a stop in Plano on the way up and brought an ice chest along to ensure it stayed fresh. The grocery store has free ice on your way out to help keep the fish cold.

Kayaking

In the surrounding area, there are plenty of things to do. Watersports at the lake/river, ziplining and restaurants if you want to get out and be active. We chose to do some kayaking along the river with Wild Goose rentals. They have 5 and 8 mile options. The 5 mile took us about 2 hours to complete paddling the entire time in a tandem kayak. Runs about $50 for the rental with no time limit. Especially nice that you end where you’re parked!

Protip: bring sunscreen, bug spray and a hat because the sun hits hard.

All in all we spent most of our time in the cabin, eating sushi, drinking sake, waking up to pancakes and drinking mimosas in the hot tub. Enjoyed spending time together disconnected from everyday stress and already planning our next trip!
